Symphony

Obedience is not a switch that we flip, it is the barometer of the state of relationship.

Moses really was pretty good at obeying the Lord, as his relationship went.

Obedience is like a symphony that orchestrates the will, plan and purpose of God in real time.

The Symphony of Obedience Requires 5 Instruments

Even before you get to the instruments, every symphony requires a
Maestro. The maestro of our lives is the Holy Spirit. He is the one who directs every aspect of our lives.

1. Knowledge: in order to be obedient, you have to know what is expected of you. This is knowledge
2. Humility: this is the spiritual bird dog in us. Humility keeps us pointed in the right direction with a keen sense of spirit (versus smell).
3. Hunger: we were born with a natural appetite. What satisfies that appetite will require some discipline and diet. (Fasting increases our spiritual hunger for the things of God.)
4. Expectation: this is the positive posture. As a wide receiver, it doesn't matter how good the quarterback is, unless you are in a position of receiving with your arms open, you will never catch what God is trying to pass to you. Worship keeps your arms ready to receive as you give God the celebration of thanks.
5. Trust: If you don't trust God, you will never obey him. Trust comes as a result of history. Without history with God you can expect very little with respect to the trust factor. The core ingredient of History is time.

Obedience isn't a duty, it is a love affair. As much as love is a covenant, it was meant to be something so much more.
