I enjoyed reading Chris Perruna's blog about predictions. It gave me pause to remember often how trite they typically are. My friend Roger Herr, a broker made a great comment saying, "Most of the times you don't realize you are in a recession until you are halfway out of it."

“Never make predictions, especially about the future.” - Casey Stengel
“Trying to predict the future is like trying to drive down a country road at night with no lights while looking out the back window.” - Peter Drucker
“Those who have knowledge, don’t predict. Those who predict, don’t have knowledge.” - Lao Tzu
“If one could foresee the next three days, one could become rich for several thousand years.” - Anonymous

So with broadcasters they are selling you disaster because if you believe that they are your source of reliable information you will keep listening. And they can sell more advertising based on the ratings.

The only prediction, which was not a prediction, but a prophetic word, that I know was chillingly on target was what Mike Bickle said forcasting about our country. He said that he saw a major disaster coming to our country, and planes were bursting in the air, and Christians were on the planes and they were falling out of the air and dying. That was in May 2001.
