As a Leader, we give up our right to be selfish. This goes completely counter to our culture and especially to our make it happen society in Gotham. As leaders, our power comes and grows to the level that we become a servant. A servant is not someone who does anything that anyone asks, but someone who does what they can knowing that whenever we are stretched by the Lord, we never return to the same size. [AR Bernard]. John Maxwell cites 6 aspects of leadership that must be faced and embraced:
- Denies self - the pleasure of God often manifests in the pleasure and success of others
- Develops others - we are to add value to others
- Accepts mistreatment - we are to forgive wrongs. [And provide a safe place where correction does not injure but empower new patterns of healthy behavior].
- Imitates Christ - we consistently look toward Jesus as a model for our actions and attitudes
- Is a student - teachability is always prescient to change, and change is God's springboard to transformation
- Pursues the harmony of relationships - we are to pursue, guard and fight for the unity of the spirit in the bond of peace.
The six categories are from Maxwell but the ancillary editorial is something that I provided.
